About the Book:

The battle of good versus evil just got a little tougher. Nesy, the best of the angelic warriors, never makes mistakes, never hesitates, never gets emotionally involved. Until she meets Aydan and the unthinkable happens. Now she must decide between love and duty. A decision that will cost more than her soul.

Exclusive Interview with the Author!

1) LACRIMOSA is a great title! Who came up with it? Was it the original title or did it change along the way?

I came up with LACRIMOSA in the very beginning, before I ever finished the story. The title comes from the DIES IRAE section of a Requiem mass, something that strongly influenced this storyline - especially the Mozart version of the mass. The book underwent several title changes along its journey, but in the end, I had to stay true to my heart and keep the original title. And, just so you know, LACRIMOSA means day of tears and mourning - very appropriate to the themes in the book.

2) What scene or bit of dialogue in the book are you most proud of and why?

I have three scenes I adore in this book. I'll see if I can share them without any spoilers...1) The scene when Nesy, well aware of her past with Aydan, confronts him for the first time; 2) The scene with Nesy and Aydan at the Peace Fountain; 3) the final battle scene. I love all three for the emotional tension that takes place in them. They were the most challenging to write, and the most fun. And everytime a reader emails or tweets, saying they had tears...that means more to me than anything! For the record, I have tears in certain spots too, even now.

3) Who's your favorite character in the book and why? Who was the most fun to write?

Obviously I love Nesy and Aydan. After writing DIES IRAE (which, although the prequel, was written after LACRIMOSA), I also love Azza and Mikayel. But my absolutely favorite...Aydan. He was hard to write, hard to understand, tormented and complex. Masculine, but sensitive. Strong, but tender. And oh so tortured. Definitely fun, both as a writer and a reader.

4) Series like these always fascinate me because I want to know where the author is going and if he/she even knows where they're going. So do you? Do you have it all plotted out in your head until the end or are you winging it as you go?

LACRIMOSA started off as a stand alone novel until it sold as a four book series. Once that happened, I had to take some time to loosely plot out the overall series arc. That way, I could weave in the subtle clues and foreshadowing the book needed to form a coherent whole. So I guess the answer is I do know where I am going with the series. And yes, I am winging it in some ways as well.

5) What genre have you not yet written but really want to try?

I never thought I'd say this, but I am totally writing something dystopian and/or sci-fi in the future. I blame my teen, actually. She drew a compelling picture that has haunted me ever since I first saw it. It is something that hints of a story begging to be told. So yea, I'll be writing it. Sooner or later. And it is definitely sci-fi or dystopian. Beyond that, who knows...
