A collection of stories - taking some of the memories and compressing them into words and making glimpses of Marian Hailey-Moss's life - from Seattle to Broadway and Beyond.

Exclusive Interview with the Author!

1) DREAMS NEED FEET TO WALK ON is a great title! Who came up with it? Was it the original title or did it change along the way?

I was walking my two dogs to the veterinarians and the title popped into my head. I thought it a unique one for the memoirs I was planning on writing someday. Then about a half a block from the veterinarian’s door, one dog pulled hard to the left of a tree near the crosswalk curb and the other to the right and I fell in the middle breaking my right leg from the knee to ankle. I took this as a sign that this indeed would be a good title.

2) When did you start to write? What motivated you? What was your first story about?

I set to write the first week returning from California where I had spent three years living with my severely ill parents who eventually passed away. I was so moved by my experience that I had to express myself creatively and writing seemed the best option. I wrote a story about my parent’s which was a longer version of what is now in the book.

3) What do you hope readers will take away from your books?

I hope they’ll at least feel warm hearted towards the people I’ve written about and I hope they’ll find enjoyment and gain an idea or two that may enrich their life.

4) What scene or bit of dialogue in the book are you most proud of and why?

I wanted to give an example of a psychotherapy session with a client and the consequent supervision of the session. But I couldn’t do that realistically because of space and because of confidentiality issues and so I think I met the challenge by the fantasy supervision session with the Doctor in the book.

5) If you could have dinner with one of your characters who would it be?

That little five year old girl at the end of the book. I would try to impart how important it is to treasure her roots and upbringing as she’s growing up towards what seemed like a deceptively different lifestyle than her friends and family upbringing.
